Hi Phil,

5 Wires from the stator kind of nods towards your scoot being a 12v AC non regulator model with indicators?

If my memory serves me correctly that would make one of the browns the power feed to the brake light switch, the other would be the link (along with the green) to your CDI unit?

I think the grey was used to power indicators (If fitted) so if not stays redundant,

The green as you say is for the ignition so connected to the CDI,

The red wire I believe powers up the headset / light switch?

When I said about cabling and harness, I meant that I route them all onto the frame and loosely clip them before I fit any other part, you can then get them in roughly the correct position before the fuel tank / toolbox / airbox etc goes in, they are an absolute nightmare to route in afterwards.

It is looking good though mate, hope the above gives you a starting point at least? IMO though the best thing to do would be junk the stator and throw a later aftermarket Electronic kit at it with the simple 4 cable wiring along with regulator and CDI, much more reliable.

Good luck and can't wait to see it

Gaz

Hi Gaz

That all makes sense as it was 12v volt, non battery but with indicators. So what you have said fits.
I understood what you meant about sticking the loom onto the frame first and agree, I would have stuck it on first but just didn't think the looms I had bought would work and was itching to do something. Anyway I will have to live with that now.
If I go down the elctronic stator root, will I need a different loom and can you recommend a supplier for the stator CDI and reg. Sorry to be a pain but I am getting keen to get her going.
Thanks very much for the help it is appreciated
Phil

Shes coming along nicely now. I have given up with the old stator and wiring and gone down the electronic route withe the correct loom. I am hoping to finish spraying the remainder of the bodywork this week. As Bryno has said there are a lot of parts to be prep'd primed and painted. Once thats done I can concentrate on the engine. I keep putting the connecting up of the loom but I will take the plunge this week
Gotta say I am a little chuffed so far, only bit that not happy with is the fit of the sharks teeth. I cant believ they should be such a crap fit. They weren't exactlt cheap but go nowhere near the scoot

Looking good Phil, yes, even top notch (big price tag) Casa Lambretta stuff often doesn't fit or is just shoddy.. I much prefer to use a slightly shabby original part than anything aftermarket..

Well I am progressing but oh so slowly. Virtually everything I touch is worn out, bodged or both. I have just finished the last of the painting and the scooter itself is coming along. i have tried to resist putting too many frilly bits. I have succumbed to some though, picked a lovely pair of chromed side panel trims by Karl Russell. Its just a shame the bloody engine wont respond to treatment.

So the engine. Found the cllutch was made up of a mixtue of parts from different models and I have never seen a basket so worn. New clutch, chain and sprocket. Tensioners were shot, bought new tensioners but bottom one had been made wrong and was hitting the rear sprocket. finally got parts that fit. new stator and flywheel, electronic. I had done a compression check and thought I would get away with the top end, how silly of me. I took the top end apart to just give it a tart up and throw a set of rings in.....I really should have known better. The bore was standard but had worn to the point where the next size piston could be forced in without a rebore. So new barrel, piston etc. The kickstart shaft and everything on it is gross, they used a gear selector spring in the kickstart piston. I have just tried to put the new lever in the casing and I cant get it to tension up so I have walked away.
Couldnt resist doing a little atr work on the fan cowl
Think I need a new spring for the kickstart. Running out of money and now time for IOW
still putting off the wiring
